AUSTIN CHILDERS CHAPTER ONE REVIEW
Chapter One was a review about what writers do to write effectively and how to do. The chapter discussed genres and its characteristics. That genres represent possibilities of how a writer would write this story. Some of these characteristics are that genres are flexible and overlap because they do not neatly fall into certain categories. One tip I learned in this chapter is that to become a better writer you have to become a better reader. I learned that there are 3 reasons to compose. The first reason is to present a narrative, the second reason is to inform, and the third reason is to persuade. In this chapter, The Rhetorical Situation was brought up and discussed throughly. The Rhetorical Situation consists of many things such as audience, appeals, modes and media. It makes the writer think about what audience is he or she composing to and how to effectively reach his or her primary audience efficiently.
